The following maps illustrate the current layout of Islip
town
centre and propose a development plan for the future.
Overall
,
it is clear that
the main
road
is to be replaced by a pedestrian path, and a circular
road
is to be constructed that will surround the entire
town
centre. To the north side of the
town
, currently, there are a series of small shops facing the main
road
from west to east and an empty countryside. They both are planned to be replaced by a bus station, a shopping centre, a car park, and a housing society which is
also
connected to the ring
road
through a smaller
road
. Looking at the southern part, there are no plans to replace these commercial units,
however
, the size of the park is expected to shrink, and to its left, a new housing project is planned. Most importantly, the entire
town
is engulfed by a circular
road
network.
