Overall
,
It is clear that
there has been a decline in homeowners through the years and it is the other way around for
people
who rent their homes. During the year 2004, there was a huge difference in terms of percentage between homeowners and renters where slightly less than 60 per cent of the
people
owned their own homes
while
around 20 per cent of
people
were renting their stay in the same year.
This
home-owning trend continued to decline with a marginal increase in 2007 and
further
started to decline. It was in the years 2010 and 2011 when the percentage was holding steadily and started to fall back again.
On the other hand
, the number of
people
who were paying rent continued to grow substantially through the years surpassing the percentage of homeowners in 2013.
