The maps below show a town centre in 1990 and the same town centre today. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The juxtaposed maps illustrate changes in the
Town
Center from 1990 to today. The old town
centre has turned into a modern city centre.
In the northwest part, Butcher's, Grocer's, Baker's, Newsagent's and Cafe turn into a big shopping mall. The main interesting change is Smith Street is closed to cars, therefore
, it paves the way for the area to pedestrians. There are 2 pedestrian ways today, The First one is situated between the town
hall and the Bank on Oldfield Street, other one is placed between the town
hall and the apartment block in the East part of Green Street. On the South side, Old houses are converted to Apartment blocks, nevertheless
, new apartment blocks are more modern and colourful than the old version of it. According to
these changes, the town
centre transformed into a calm city as car roads were diminishing therefore
leading to a vibrant atmosphere in the middle of town
