Your local newspaper published an advertisement asking people to offer time for local environmental initiatives in your area. Write a letter to the project manager to offer your help. In your letter: -Describe a local volunteer project that you are passionate about -Explain what you would like to do to help -Suggest how to gather more support for the cause Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows: Dear Sir or Madam,

Dear Sir or Madam, I hope
this
letter finds you well. I recently came across the advertisement in our local newspaper regarding environmental initiatives, and I am eager to offer my assistance. A project that I am really excited about is getting people in the
community
to work together to clean up trash and plant trees in our local parks. Cleaning up our neighbourhood will
also
ensure the health of where we live and the animals that live nearby. First of all, I would like to offer my help in planning clean-up days so that people from the
community
can come together to pick up trash and clean up our parks, especially the playground areas.
This
will help to keep our kids safe and clean.
In addition
, I am willing to help plant trees to improve our local environment and make it stronger and more stable.
Lastly
, in order to gather more support for these initiatives, I propose raising awareness on local
community
boards and social media channels in order to get greater support for these efforts. Working with schools to get students involved in these projects could make young people feel more accountable for the world around them. There will be more supporters if speeches are given to keep areas clean and plant trees. Thank you for considering my offer to help. I look forward to working together to impact our
community
positively. Please let me know if you need any more information. I hope to hear from you soon! Sincerely yours, Trang Dao

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
