You have recently bought some furniture. It was broken when you received it. Write a complaint letter to the store manager and say – What and when did you buy? – Why was it broken? – Suggest how the problem could be solved

✨ Do you want to improve your IELTS writing?
Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the damaged furniture I received from your store. On December 1, 2024, I purchased an office desk from your shop, expecting a high-quality product.
However
, upon delivery to my home, I discovered that it was in defective condition.
Firstly
, the desk has noticeable scratches on its surface, making it visually unappealing. More critically, one of its legs is broken, rendering the desk entirely unusable.
As a result
, I have been unable to use it for my office work, which has caused significant delays in completing my tasks. Given the circumstances, I kindly request you to arrange for the product to be replaced at my home address within the next two days. If a replacement is not feasible, I expect a full refund to compensate for the inconvenience caused. For your reference, I have attached a copy of the purchase receipt. Should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at 12345678. Thank you for your prompt attention to
this
matter. I look forward to your response and a swift resolution. Yours faithfully, Mitali Padiya

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
