The diagram illustrates the process of making tomato ketchup in 15 steps, from picking
tomatoes
to their final use.
First,
tomatoes
are picked and sorted by farm workers into good and bad quality. The good
tomatoes
are sent to factories by lorries. At the factory, their skin, seeds, and stalks are removed, and the remaining
tomatoes
are crushed into a liquid. At
this
stage, sugar, vinegar, and salt are added. The mixture is
then
boiled and left for two hours to cool. Once cooled, the ketchup is poured into containers. These are labelled, and the quality is checked before they are packed and delivered to supermarkets. Consumers can
then
purchase the ketchup to enjoy with hamburgers and fries.
