You have heard that one of your friends will be doing voluntary work at a festival. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter * ask about what type of festival your friend is volunteering at and when and where it will take place * ask what your friend will have to do as part of the voluntary work * ask if the organisers are still looking for more volunteers and how you can apply for the work

Dear Sara, I hope you are doing well. I am writing to inquire about the voluntary work at the festival that you are participating in. I heard from some friends that you are involved in volunteering, and I would like to know more about the type of work you do at the festival.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
