The two diagrams compare the layout and changes in a coastal town named Petland from 1950 to 2007.

, a comparison of the two maps reveals a complete transformation from a largely rural to a mainly urban area. In the year 1950, the town was a much greener area with a great amount of grassland across the town. There was only an industrial zone located to the west and a car park on the southeast side.

, a big sea spread to the north of the city. All establishments were connected via roads intertwined in the middle of the map. In sharp contrast, many more buildings and recreational areas were constructed in 2007. To the southeast side, several houses appeared with a cinema right next to it (from the west). Alongside the horizontal road, many new shops were built. The sea was reconstructed to become a yacht marina with different apartments across the northeast road. A new swimming pool, multi-storey car park and a park were placed in the northwest region by removing an industrial area.
