It is expected that there will be a higher proportion of older people than that of young people in many countries in the future. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

In today’s modern world, neither low, nor middle, nor high-income countries are immune to the implications of the growing number of older population.
Although
some suggest that
this
demographic change does not bring negative impacts to society,
this
development could do more harm than good. There are several reasons why people believe older people are not without advantages.
First
, governments may save a considerable sum of money from the drop in the crime rate.
For instance
, since senior citizens are less inclined to commit crimes, especially felonies, as these people are more law-abiding than young ones, chances are the number of criminals will fall, resulting in money being saved in prisons and policing costs down the road.
Second
, the aging generation gives valuable opportunities not only for the economy to respond to their

First
, the imbalance of age may put the economy in jeopardy as it increases the pressure to sustain the older generation. In fact, when people age, they will suffer more chronic ailments and the likelihood for wounds to heal is low, which constitutes a burden on both the national

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
