In some schools and universities, girls tend to choose arts subjects (e.g. literature), and boys tend to choose science subjects (e.g. physics). Why do you think this is so? Should this tendency be changed? Do you agree or disagree

A choice is still made based upon the gender of the person. In academic institutions, the subjects like art (literature) are in the majority, filled with females, whereas the
science
classes (physics) occupy most of by males. There are multiple reasons for the prevalence of
such
a scenario, apart from that I completely agree that these tendencies should be changed. There are many reasons for girls selection of arts and boys' selection of
science
subjects. One of the reasons is, the age old thinking of parents that masculine gender should study
science
than feminine. As it was believed that they have more brains and capabilities than females. Because,
science
needed more time to understand and practise, even experimentation for in depth understanding and females were regarded to focus more in the household activities. So, ultimately females were not able to spare that much time in study, which on other hand males could spend.
For example
, during the 18th and the initial 19th century, the
science
Suggestion
scientific
field was developing, so it had more job vacancies than any other field, and
also
this
field needed more manpower and bright brains to study fields like rocket
science
. So, parents almost forced their sons to give a chance to their futures, as those who did better work were rewarded.
On the contrary
, these prevailing tendencies, needs to be changed at the time has changed and so should people's mentality. To those parents stopping their daughters from studying what they will forward should be immensely educated. They should be made aware of the worlds scenario and how today the demand for female workers are increasing.
For example
, the New York times in 2014, once stated that from 9% to 33% sector in the jobs are now covered by females. These are an incredible rise to the employment of women. Even the Singapore's data on employment mentioned that the Womens holding post of CEO of the company are deliberately increasing. Looking over these progressions, todays generation parents should be encouraged to accept the fact about the importance of girls' education and the situation must be solved. To conclude, it is clear that women have full right of choosing their education stream, no matter, whatsoever it is, they should be encouraged rather than discouraging. And, I completely agree with the fact that these stereotypes of gender
discrimation
unfair treatment of a person or group on the basis of prejudice
discrimination
in regards to education should be stopped.
