You and your family are planning to spend a weekend at a seaside hotel. Task: Write a letter to the hotel making the arrangements. Let them know when you will be arriving and leaving, what type of rooms you would like, and ask them how much the weekend will cost. Also enquire about activities and places of interest near the hotel.

Dear Sir, I am writing
this
letter to make an arrangement for staying at your hotel," The Seaside INN".
Firstly
,I am planning to visit Goa with my friends and family on the
second
weekend in the month of October. As per the current plan, we will be arriving there at 9:00 AM on10th October and will be leaving on 14th October at around 2:00 PM.
Also
, I will be accompanied by 10 people,
therefore
, I would prefer to book 2 cottages as, I think it would be adequate to accommodate all of us. Please feel free to inform me if you think it would not be sufficient for 10 people.
Moreover
, I will appreciate if you provide me rooms with a seaside view.
Besides
that,it will be great if you could provide the price for our stay by considering the number of people as well as the type of accommodation required.
Furthermore
, I want to seek information about the activities inside the hotel and the nearby tourist places. The group has a mixture of children, senior citizens as well as adults.
Thus
, it would be great if you could assist us with details.
This
will help everyone to enjoy their time and stay at Goa. You can drop me a letter by 25th September with all the relevant details in the address mentioned as sender's address on the envelope. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours Faithfully, Shreya

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
