You own an old item that you think is valuable and would like to sell. Write a letter to the owner of an antique’s shop. In your letter: explain how you found the shop describe the item that you would like to sell say how much you would like to sell the item for

Dear Mr Owels, I am writing
this
letter in regards to selling a vintage antique piece of jewellery to your esteemed shop. I am a resident of Sector 76, NOIDA, which is quite close to your establishment and found the location and contact details of your store from our local weekly magazine, where it was clearly mentioned that your business deals in purchase and sale of old valuable items. My great-grandfather, one of the prolific writers of his time, worked quite closely for the king of Junagadh, who presented him with a beautiful piece of necklace. It has a silver thread with multiple jewels dangling from one end to the other, with a large sapphire in the centre.
Additionally
, it comes with a nice set of earpieces. Since the core jewel on the item is very heavy, I think it must be of great value. I am planning to put the item for sale at a price of INR 40 lacs, but I am open to negotiating at a lower value as well.
Also
, if I can get all the money upfront, I can
further
provide a 5% discount. I hope to receive a positive response from your side. Yours faithfully, Abhishek Sinha

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
