Some people think students should study the science of food and how to prepare it. Others think that school time should be used in learning important subjects. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

A wide range of
subjects
are taught in schools in recent times. These courses range from
science
, arts and technology. Some people believe that students should learn the
science
of
food
and how to make it while other people think that the time spent in school should be used in studying other beneficial
subjects
. There are valid opinions on both sides which I will discuss now. On the one hand, individuals who argue that students should learn about
food
and how to cook do so because they think it will help them in the future by teaching them how to live and feed themselves independently.
For example
, cooking is a domestic chore
that is
attributed to the females but if it becomes a course taken in schools, it will expose the males teaching them how to cater for themselves, not to depend on women to eat and even provide meals for their families in future when their spouses are not around.
Also
, learning the
science
of
food
means understanding the components and benefits of each meal.
This
is beneficial because
this
knowledge will enable people to make better health decisions regarding the kinds of
food
they ingest.
On the other hand
, opposers say that
instead
of wasting quality time reading about
food
, it is more important to focus on other
subjects
that may have more impact on the lives of the students in the long run.
Subjects
such
as
science
and technology will teach pupils creativity. If later in the future, anyone takes up an interest in foods, he or she can go and study dietetics to gain more insight on
food
and its preparation. In my opinion, the
science
of
food
and how to cook is as important as other
subjects
and they should be taught in institutions.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
