Some people say history is one of the most important school subjects.Other people think that,in today's world, subjects like science and technology are more important than history.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion Give reasons for your answers and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge.
In the modern world, there are differing perspectives about which subject is the most important one in schools. Some people think history has lost its importance in comparison to other subjects, but others think oppositely. I believe while history can be a practical subject, other courses like science are more essential.
There is a famous quotation that says: "history repeats itself". It illustrates the importance of the past and the lessons which need to be learned from the past. It can show students how their ancestors lived in the past and how they survived during difficulties that had occurred to them.
For instance
, knowing the way they reacted to natural disasters which may happen again. In addition
, students can learn about their ancient cultures and traditions which can be important to individuals. for example
, Iranian people can learn about the culture behind Norouz and why it has 13 days of celebration. But is it enough to survive?
On the other hand
, we are born and living in a modern world with cutting-edge technologies which update every day. To survive in this
world children need to understand the things which they have been surrounded by, more than knowing what happened to their ancestors. Moreover
, science and technology which are providing more practical tools have made today's life much easier. Take vaccines as an example; There have been numerous infectious diseases that were deadly in the past, vanished by vaccines made by scientists.
My conclusion is not a moralistic one about who is wrong or right and both subjects are important and should be taught. I think although
knowing about their past might have a role in children's education, teaching science and technology plays a crucial role in their future.Submitted by hediefaskhoodi on
