Some people believe that unpaid community service should be a compulsory part of high school programmes (for example working for a charity, improving the neighbourhood or teaching sports to younger children). To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Community
service
is work done by a person or a group of
people
that benefits others. Some
people
believe that voluntary
community
service
should be taught in high schools. I agree with them but there are some points that I would like to mention. The more we gain knowledge about the society that we are living in, the more we are able to become useful members of it. The idea of educating our younger generation about the
community
they are going to create is acceptable and

. But I think that we should train them at a younger age,
for example
, from elementary school. If we teach them about humanity and how to care about other
people
since childhood,
then
we can expect a brighter future. There are several activities to help us improve our
community
, without any age limits.
For example
, taking care of cats and dogs at an animal shelter, delivering cookies to an elderly

, sending cards to soldiers serving overseas, and working for a charity.
Furthermore
, unpaid
community
service
can be beneficial to the person who is doing the
service
as well. It gives
people
a way to help others, it can be a way to meet new friends, it affects our resumes for school or

and it results in personal growth.
