Write a letter informing the e-commerce online store customer desk about a damaged product you received

✨ Do you want to improve your IELTS writing?
Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to you to complain about a damaged product which I bought from your online store.
To begin
with, I received two speakers which I ordered a week ago. Unfortunately, both of them did not work well. I think they are broken. When I turn on the music it didn't work. I try to charge it but it still does not work.
In addition
to
this
, I have a party on the 20th of June. So I need to find good speakers for a party. I want you to urgently change the speakers. If you do not change the columns, pay back my money. I will buy it from another store. The
next
time, you need to improve your service of delivering.
Also
, products must be checked before delivery.
Also
, I can send you a photo of the broken product. I would like to appreciate it if you could solve the problem as soon as possible, but not later than a week because of my party. Yours faithfully, Jane

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
