Government should invest in teaching science subjects rather than other sunjects in order for a country to develop and progress. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Children learn more effectively at a young age and are able to develop aptitude towards a particular topic when taught from a young. To develop, a
country
's potential to a higher degree, government
incentives should be provided for schools to encourage learning STEM subjects
. In this
essay two main reasons for agreeing to this
view are discussed; higher jobs and a lesser chance of brain drain for the country
.
Firstly
,STEM courses provide more opportunities for students in their later life. Engineers, doctors , nurses etc all have higher-paying jobs with limitless potential available as a career path. These professionals also
earn more in comparison. Doctors in Australia earn an average of $100k AUD according to
an article in the finance magazine The Economist. Countries like Australia and America have to bring immigrants because their own country
does not have enough workers in the field from India and China. Government
should invest in more opportunities in STEM fields so that the country
will be more self-sufficient.
Secondly
, people from countries like India and China are encouraged to learn maths and science from a very young age due to
parental and societal pressure. In spite of this
,young adults leave the country
to acquire a better life for themselves and move to developed countries to study at university. For example
, Indian students make up 40 % of international students at Melbourne university and they are mainly in the science field. Moreover
, subjects
like music and arts have very little scope for a further
job when compared to the cost of education.
To conclude
, science subjects
job play a vital role in the running of the country
and the government
should encourage the teaching of these subjects
. But in my opinion, this
may not lead to the prosperity of the nation. In the end, I moderately agree with the above statement as government
intervention is good but may not lead to the desired outcome.Submitted by veenanerul on
