You have seen an advertisement in an Australian magazine for someone to live with a family for six months and look after their six-year-old child. Write a letter to the parents. In your letter, explain why you would like the job give details of why you would be a suitable person to employ say how you would spend your free time while you are in Australia

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to express my interest in a position that I saw in an Australian magazine for looking after your six-year-old child and staying at your place. There are several reasons why I am interested in
this
opportunity.
Firstly
, I have been working in
this
profession for the
last
10 years and I really love spending time and guiding little children.
In addition
, I am planning a six-month trip to your city, so I am open to staying at your place as well.
Secondly
, as mentioned earlier that I have expertise in childcare and on top of that, recently I have
also
successfully finished a course "how to teach reasoning and analytics to young babies", my knowledge on these topics could help your baby to grab knowledge on these topics from early childhood, which will help the child in coming future.
Lastly
, I am
also
open to adjusting my schedule at your convenience. I believe on weekends when you will be home I can visit local beaches, restaurants, and museums with my friends and can
also
attend Indian community meetings that take place quarterly. Thank you for your consideration. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. Yours faithfully

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
