The given bar chart provides the number of males and females studying at a UK university in 2011 and engaging in 6 artistic subjects

Overall
, it can be seen that the only subject with a notable gender gap was
philosophy
as the other gaps were clearly smaller.
Besides
that, excluding art and design, female engagement was the greatest in all subject matters. In terms of male interests, the subjects implicating the greatest proportions were first of all
English
language and literature just followed by linguistics studies, the former at 150 enrollments and the latter just below. Contrastly, just 50 men were studying
philosophy
and approximately double were in the history and archaeology classes. The female category was highly interested in
English
topics, as 250 women that year were involved in those, just around 20 students more than the male

students.
Also
, linguistics and communication & media educational programs had quite similar interest rates.
On the other hand
