A friend you met last year has invited you to visit him/her in his/her country. You have never been there before and need some information before you leave. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter: request advise about a gift for his/her family ask about activities and clothing in his/her country find out about the food

Dear Cathy, How are you? Extremely happy to hear from you. It has been a long time since we met and I would love to touch base. I am excited to see that you have
finally
landed on your own feet now and that things are working out great for you down under. Thank you so much for inviting me to Toronto to stay with you. I am thrilled to come over.
However
, I would love to know more details. I would like to bring over some homemade authentic Indian sweets for you and your family if you would enjoy them. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can get you from here. I am waiting to visit the historic Cyan tower and the mesmerizing Ripley’s aquarium that I heard of. It would be great if you could take me there.
Also
, please let me know if you would like to take me to any other places so that I can look through them and prepare myself for them. I am aware that Toronto is generally very cold during winter. If you could tell me how the weather conditions are going to be, it would be helpful for me to pack my clothes and other necessary items. As I have stopped consuming non-vegetarian food, I would love to know more about the kind of food
that is
available there and if vegetarian options would be available for me. Can’t wait to meet you soon. With lots of love, Teresa

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
