nutrients, namely
sodium
, saturated fat and added sugar, in the breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks of American citizens. These
three
nutrients can have negative effects when they are overused.
It is clear that
sodium
and saturated fat are used extensively in their dinners and lunches,
while
added sugars make up more of the snacks. The figures for all

breakfast. About
three
-quarters of the
sodium
is used when Americans eat dinner, meanwhile, they
also
consume plenty of saturated fat and added sugar, with figures of 37% and 23% respectively. They get 29% of their
sodium
and 26% of their saturated fat from lunch. The largest source of added sugars can be found in snacks with 42%, followed by dinner and lunch with a mere 23% and 19% for each. The percentage of all
three
nutrients in breakfast is comparatively close, at around 15%.
