The bar chart illustrates the percentage of households inowned and rented houses in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011.
The bar chart shows the proportion of families that owned accommodations and rented residences in two countries from 1981 to 2011.
Overall
, the proportion of households that owned residences increased gradually
while
the family that rented home decreased over time. The rate of households who owned accommodation in both countries rose steadily from 1918 to 2011. In 1918, the proportion was roughly one in four before it grew to just over 30% in 1939 and
then
levelled off in 1953. From 1961 to 1991 the percentage surged significantly and
then
reached its peak in 2001 at almost 70% before decreasing slightly in 2011. The percentage of the family who rented a home is inversely proportional to the family that owned residences. In 1918, the vast majority family in England and Swedia rented houses. In 1939 the scale started to decline moderately through the period
such
as in 1961 down to nearly 60%, and
then
in 1991 just under a third even though there is an increment of just a little bit in 2011. There is
also
a phenomenon when the ratio of the family that owned the same as with the households rented houses, which happened in 1971.
