The line graph compares the
consumption
of three fast foods by Australian teenagers from 1975 to 2000, over a period of 25 years. Overall
, it is clear that
whilst the consumption
of chips
and fish
significantly declined over time, over the period, the amount of pizza and hamburgers that were eaten increased.
In 1975, the most popular fast food among teenagers in Australia was fish
and chips
, being eaten 100 times a year. This
number was far higher than that for the other two fast foods, which were consumed 5 times a year. Apart from a brief (small) rise from 1980 to 1985, its consumption
considerably fell over the time frame to finish at lower (under) 40.
In sharp contrast to this
, teenagers ate pizza and hamburgers at much higher levels. Pizza consumption
gradually increased until it overtook fish
and chips
in 1997. It then
levelled off at 80 for the last
three years. The biggest rise was seen in hamburgers as the occasions that they were eaten remarkably increased, exceeding that of fish
and chips
in 1997. It finished at the same level that fish
began, with consumption
of 100 times a year.Submitted by Rosa on
