, it is clear that
there are significant changes in customers’ demands for commodities and services. While
both housing and clothing accounted for over half the proportion of spending commodities in 1958,the trend seemingly reversed till 2008, as more and more housing and luxury goods were sold to gratify the masses’ needs.
Clothing was comprised of 32% in the first year and this
showed a considerable decrease of about a mere 10% to 12% in 2008.Likewise
,in 1958,entertainment generated 18% which fall gradually to 16% 50 years later.Furthermore
, the proportion of travel/transport decreased significantly from 13% in 1958 to 6% in 2008.
With regards to remaining consumer items,there was an approximate 10% growth in both housing and luxury goods to 32% and 17% respectively.Additionally
