Juveniles and young adults in their early twenties are responsible for the tremendous shift in criminal activities, which peaked at 800,000 by the age of 20. It witnessed a decrease of 200,000 four years later before levelling off and declining throughout the age groups.
The variety of crimes committed can be classified into four sections. The criminal activities that appear to be violent in nature constitute 46 per cent, accounting for almost half of the crimes committed in the previous year.
