The bar chart compares the proportion of adults in the United Kingdom who went on the internet on a daily basis in terms of age profile between the years 2003 and 2006.
In general, all the age groups experienced an upward trend over the period shown. But the younger adults were the main internet users, as opposed to the older ones.
As per the chart, the percentage of people whose ages were between 16 and 24 had not fallen below 80 in the years 2003 and 2004. In 2005, the rate rose to 100, but in the next year, it fell by 10. The pattern of everyday internet usage was similar in both the 25–44 and 45–54 age groups. The former one climbed to 80 in 2006 from nearly 50 in 2003,
while
the latter one touched the 80 mark in 2006 from 60.
Compared to their younger counterparts, there were fewer users among those who were over 55. Between the ages of 55 and 64, the rate of users had a minor fluctuation from 2003 to 2005. But it saw an increase of almost 50 in 2006. However
