in British from 2008 to 2014. It is obvious that the

tended to spend more money for

children

to participate in

sports

over six years.

While

football was always attractive to a

number

of

children

the most over the same period, athletics just began to be paid attention to from the half of the period. In 2008,

parents

in Britain spent just £20 on

children

's

sports

,

then

the expenditure grew continuously, and by 2014, the figures for British

parents

' spending achieved more than £30. Looking at the participating numbers, in 2008, around 8

million

children

played football,

while

just about 2

million

joined athletics, and below 1

million

children

went swimming. The figures for football still remained relatively stable over the following six years, with the

number

of

children

taking part being around 8 - 9

million

By contrast

, the

number

of

children

attending swimming had risen to nearly 4

million

in 2014, and there was a fivefold increase in the figures for practising athletics.
