Ensure that the letter has a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Your greeting should be more concise and your closing should directly address the recipient personally.
single idea per paragraph
Organize ideas into clear paragraphs – one main idea per paragraph. Each paragraph should begin with a clear topic sentence.
complete response
Stay on topic by directly answering the questions prompted in the task, and provide sufficient detail for each point.
suitable writing tone
Maintain a consistent and appropriate tone throughout the letter. The tone should be suitable for writing to someone you know, but also professional as it's regarding accommodations for a job relocation.
logical structure
Create logical connections between statements and paragraphs using cohesive devices, such as linking words and pronouns, to enhance readability and flow.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
