The two bar charts illustrate the UK
graduates
and
postgraduates
' future decisions after leaving college in 2008, their choices were distributed by 4 conditions - being a part-time worker, voluntary worker, unemployment and going to
further
study. Those who started full-time
work
did not participate in the data collection.
Overall
, the trends of the two groups are quite similar, most of the
students
in both groups wanted to continue studying and the minority of
students
chose to become voluntary workers.
However
, the sizes of the two groups are rather different, the
number
of
students
who were
graduates
is far more than the
students
who were
postgraduates
.
It is clear that
the majority of
graduates
, almost 30000 of them, greatly outnumbered their counterparts who ended up in the other three situations.
In contrast
, only 3500
graduates
engaged in voluntary
work
, making it the least common post-graduation destination.
Moreover
, those who worked part-time and were unemployed were nearly the same in
number
, at 17,735 and 1,6235 respectively, which were a little higher than the double of
further
study. Looking into the information for more details, the
number
of post-graduate
students
in each classification was nearly one-tenth of the
number
of
graduates
, except for people going on to
work
part-time. There were 2,535
postgraduates
who started to
work
as part-time workers.
While
around 3000
postgraduates
continued being
students
, the group of voluntary workers were still the smallest with 345 people and 1,625
postgraduates
were unemployed.
