The diagram below show the life cycle of a species of large fish called the salmon. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparison where relevant.
The pictorial chart describes in detail, the life series of an aqua species known as
salmon
.
Overall
, it takes almost a decade for the cycle to be complete. There are three stages of growth involved for this
to be done and referred to as, fry, smolt
and adult salmon
stages.
The growth period begins when eggs are produced and stored between small stones which are found beneath reeds. These reeds grow on the upper river and the flow of the water there is slow, allowing for the preservation of eggs. It takes about five to six months for it to mature into a fry. The fry fish is about three to eight centimetres in length and is able to move into the lower river .Movement of the water at the lower river is fast and the species in it. It thrives for approximately four years until it grows into a smolt
.
At the smolt
stage, the species is about twelve to fifteen centimetres long and can live in the open sea. It takes approximately five years for the smolt
to mature into an adult salmon
with a length of about seventy to seventy-six centimetres. Once the fish matures and is now an adult salmon
, it produces eggs, and the period continues.Submitted by maameserwaamilli on
