Overall
, the budget
had an increase in 2018 compared to 2017. It was salaries that remained the category spent most in both years.
They came mostly from the national government, which provided the police with 175,7 million
pounds in 2017 and 177,8 in 2018 (equivalent to a 2,1 million
pound increase). This
category made up more than half of the total budget
in both years. Local tax income is relatively lower compared to the previous category but it still contributed to 91,2 million
pounds in 2017 and had an 11,1 million
pounds increase in 2018. The rest of the money came from other sources, such
as grants.
In terms of spending, salaries take the lead, with 75% of the budget
in 2017 and 69% in 2018. In contrast
, technology reported considerably low spending as it ranged from 8% to 14%. Buildings and transport spending remain the same in both years, making up 17% of the total budget
