Europe has been the continent with the highest rates of literacy
with a total of just below 99 %, Africa and Asia had the lowest with 62.5 and just below 80% respectively. The rates of the Americas and Oceania were nearly 94% in both regions.
The comparison between the sexes was significant in Africa and Asia with a difference between genders of nearly 20% and 15% respectively. The other 3 regions have had a proportion of literacy
