You recently went on a business trip and stayed an a hotel. On getting home, you realize you left some things at the hotel.Write a letter to the hotel manager. Details of your stay The items you left behind What you want the manager to do
Dear Mr. Bond,
I am writing to inform you about a few items I accidentally left behind during my recent stay at the Hotel Hilton. I checked in on 21 Sep 2024 and checked out on 25 Sep 2024, staying in room number 21. My visit was for a business trip, and I only realized after returning home that I had forgotten some belongings in the room.
The items I left behind include:
A black bag containing some important documents and my laptop.
A yellow pocket where my credit cards are located.
I kindly request that you check with your housekeeping team to see if these items were found. If possible, I would appreciate it if you could arrange for them to be securely shipped to my address at 123 Main Street Springfield, IL 62701 USA. I am, of course, willing to cover any shipping costs involved.
Thank you very much for your assistance. Please let me know if you require any
further
information.
Warm regards,
Mohsen Ijbari

Task Response
Consider mentioning more specific details about the documents' importance to strengthen your request.
Structure
The letter is well-structured with a clear introduction, body, and closing paragraph.
Tone
You used a polite and formal tone, which is appropriate for addressing a hotel manager.
Task Completion
The tasks are clearly stated, and the information is complete.
Structure your letter
A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:
- A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
- The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
- A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)
When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.
All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
