You have been invited to attend an interview for a place studying a course in a college. Unfortunately, because of a previous appointment, you cannot come at the time they wish. Write a letter to the admissions tutor: •explain your position •apologies and offer to come on another day or later the same day. •ask how long the interview will be and whether there will be any tests during it. You do NOT need to write your own address. You should write at least 150 words.

Grammar
Pay attention to spelling and grammar in your letter to make it more polished, such as correcting 'scheducled' to 'scheduled' and 'intreview' to 'interview'.
Coherence and Cohesion
Make sure each paragraph develops one idea clearly before moving on, for example: separate your apology from the request for rescheduling.
Task Achievement
The letter addresses each point from the task: explaining the missed appointment, apologizing, and asking about the interview details.
Suitable Writing Tone
The letter maintains a polite and formal tone throughout, which is appropriate for addressing an admissions tutor.
Coherence and Cohesion
The opening and closing are polite and well-structured, with an appropriate greeting and closing.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
