task response
You start with one main idea: parents should limit TV and games. However, you need answer all parts of the question. Write about effects on children, families, and society. Then give more than one solution.
task response
Explain each idea. For example, too much screen time can make children less active, can make family time less, and can lead to health problems. Give a short, clear example for each point.
task response
Your answer stops very early. Add a full ending that sums up the effects and says what parents, schools, and children can do.
coherence and cohesion
Make a clear plan: first paragraph for the topic, then one paragraph for effects, one paragraph for solutions, and a final short ending.
coherence and cohesion
Use simple link words to show your ideas: First, Also, For example, However, Therefore, and In conclusion.
coherence and cohesion
Keep one main idea in each paragraph. Do not move from TV to parents to activities in the same sentence without clear links.
task response
You understand that parents can help children spend less time on TV and games.
coherence and cohesion
You try to give a solution at the start, and you use “First of all” to begin your next point.
Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
