A little bit of reading on Samina Mishra led me to a wonderful essay (‘Why we shouldn’t shield children from darkness’) by an award-winning children’s author, Matt de la Peña, who says, “Maybe instead of anxiously trying to protect our children from every little hurt and heartache, our job is to simply support them through such experiences. The best way to help children to learn to cooperate is through playing team sports at school. To what extent do you agree and disagree?

admittedly, I agree with those who claim that playing team sports, such as basketball and football, can make students understand the importance of work closerly together with each other to win a game. However, for pupils who are not good at physical movements or dislike sports, the methods will be not only less efficient for them. If other children do not want to team up with them, they might feel isolated and excluded, which will hurt their feelings.

As a result, some students are suffering from psychological illnesses, such as depressive disorder. Some even have suicide tendencies which might lead to irreparable consequences. According to statistics from the Education Bureau of Anhui Province, there are one to two university students commit suicide on the daily basis in Anhui Province alone.
