The line graph traces the changes in the total emission of carbon dioxide per person in 4 different regions in the years 1967 to 2007. Data are expressed in metric tonnes. Overall, it is evident that while the UK and Sweden showed a decrease in their carbon dioxide emission in the years covered, Italy and Portugal had an increase in the same period.
Moreover
, the highest carbon dioxide emitter was the UK, whereas Sweden and Portugal were the lowest of the final year. According to the chart, toxic gases emitted by the UK was over 10 metric tonnes in 1967 compared to below 10 metric tonnes of Sweden. The former experienced a steady decline of greenhouse gases in the succeeding years, dipping to about 7 metric tonnes in 2007.
Similarly
, the latter had the same downward trend, wherein their utilization of fossil fuels started to decrease to as low as 5 metric tonnes by 2007.
