During a recent plane journey, you sat next to a businessman who owns a chain of restaurants. You talked to him and he suggested that you should contact him about a possible job in one of his restaurants. Write a letter to this businessman. In your letter, • remind him when and where you met • tell him what kind of job you are interested in • say why you think you would be suitable for the job

Dear Mr Smith, I hope you are well and safe at home. I am Nofal and we have met during our recent travels. I am writing you in regards to the offer you suggested in working on of your restaurants. If you remember, we met on the flight from Lahore, Pakistan to New York, USA. I believe we had a nice journey throughout and an informative talk about restaurant management. At the same time, you mentioned I should have applied for a better role in some other restaurant and advised me to contact you about any possible job opening. I realized you were right and I was interested in a managerial position for over a year.
However
, the hurdle along the way was leaving my current organization, but it looks like impossible now receiving a promotion from my existing company. In order to continuously grow professionally, I should need to utilize my existing skills and gain experience onwards from a higher designation. As you are aware, I have been working in a fast-food chain for over five years and I possess all the necessary skills with experience to lead from a manager level. I can effectively develop the systems to manage staff and deliver customers fresh meals within a shorter period of time. I can

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
