You recently bought a piece of equipment for your kitchen but it did not work. You phoned the shop but no action was taken. Write a letter to the shop manager. In your letter describe the problem with the equipment explain what happened when you phoned the shop say what you would like the manager to do
I am writing
this
letter to you to complain about the microwave
that I bought from your shop last
week and the service that your employee gave.
Last
Monday, I bought a microwave
from your shop. The model number is No.2222. In the beginning, I was excited because I needed a microwave
to reheat meals in my kitchen. When I used it following the introduction, unfortunately, it didn't work at all.
Then
I connected with Tim, one of your employees who is in customer service. He told me that he would arrange for someone to contact me and help me to resolve the problem. Until today, I hadn't received any further
help, not even a callback.
I am feeling very unhappy. I know your company is a famous electrical store and has been open for 40 years. I don't believe this
is the last
time that I buy something from your shop. Therefore
, I want to return the microwave
and request a refund.
Yours faithfully,

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
