In 2017 when I got diagnosed with OCD, I felt like I have just got
this
problem recently, the truth when I looked back at my
life
carefully, I noticed that I always had
this
behaviour but it wasn’t disabling back
then
, I didn’t struggle from it as I did in 2017.
However
, once I knew what is my problem, I started my battle, every once in a
while
I came up with a new strategy to deal with my OCD but
this
plan soon fail, and I keep searching for another and so on. All my strategies to win
this
battle have given me a short relief but once the OCD start coming back I feel like am losing and once
this
feeling kicks in, it takes control because I keep thinking that I shouldn’t lose, and
this
is thanks to the concept of winning or losing. So, once it takes control, my
life
gets on hold, I get paralyzed and after days of darkness, I start searching for another strategy. And what I noticed is, the more strategies you came up with, the more painful the loss will be. What I discovered after a thorough search is that most of my struggle comes from setting goals and trying to achieve them and sometimes when I achieve them, I start to feel emptiness, I start to feel like am losing again. My
life
started to change once I learnt to have values rather than goals, as values encourage the concept of accepting and being mindful. Every human being throughout their
life
has suffered from some sort of psychological difficulties, some even with the same amount of distressing feelings and thoughts as a diagnosed psychiatric patient.
However
, even with the same amount of anxiety ,
for instance
. They managed to get through hard times and live their
life
efficiently. That’s because the line that separates normal anxiety from
life
-disabled anxiety is struggling. Which generates form the concept of winning or losing.
