You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. You are planning a holiday to Australia. You have been given the name and address of a hotel in the centre of Sydney and would like further information. Write a letter to the hotel. Ask about the availability of the rooms and the hotel's facilities. Find out if the hotel arranges day trips and ask them to send you a brochure. You should write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write your own address. Begin your letter as follows: Dear Sir/Madam,

Dear Sir/Madam I am planning a trip to Australia and found your hotel through a friend. I want to enquire about a few things before finalising the plans.
Firstly
, I would like to know about the types of rooms that you have. We are a party of four including two kids, 5 and 7.
Additionally
, I would like to know if there are any kids' rooms or swimming pools to keep the kids entertained. We are excited to explore the city and visit famous tourist destinations. I was wondering if the hotel provides any day trips. If yes,
then
can you please share the brochure for the same?
Also
, will we need to rent a car for daily travel needs? I am looking forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Jane

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
