, we can observe an upward trend in each item's popularity. The most popular modern
technology
in 1996 was

players and it remained the same in 2003, too. The least popular item in 1996 was mobile phones, unlike in 2003 which was

was invented in 1998 and after we can see a gradual increase in its
percentage
. In 1998 only about 10% of
people
had
internet
access
, but in 2002/03 it was more than 40%. The popularity of mobile phones was fluctuating from 1996/97 until 2000/01. After we can observe a slight increase in the
percentage
of
people
's
access
to mobile phones. About 20% of the population of the UK possessed a home computer. But
this
percentage
has risen gradually. And ended up with approximately 60% of the population owning it. The
last
modern
technology
item
that is
depicted in the illustration is the
CD
player. 60% of English
people

player in 1996/97 and more than 80% of
