The bar chart gives information about five distinct levels of post-school qualifications in Australia and the percentage of males and females who obtained them in 1999.
It is clear from the chart that there is a noticeable gender difference among all five qualification types except the bachelor's degree, with the skilled vocational diploma showing the most significant gender disparity.
Men tended to choose relatively elementary and advanced degree levels, particularly, skilled vocational diplomas, postgraduate diplomas and master's degrees. In each qualification type, men accounted for a higher proportion than women, with around 90%, 70% and 60% respectively, Women took up the remaining portions. Around 10%, 30% and 40% of them were awarded these three qualifications distinctively.
In comparison, females' qualifications were spread mainly to the relatively intermediate level. More than 70% and 50% of them obtained undergraduate diplomas and bachelor's degrees individually,
while
the figures for males of these two groups were about 40%.Linking Words
