The chart and table below give information about population figures in Japan. Japan’s population: past, present and future trends.
Both data provide information about Japan’s
population
figures from 1950, the current time, and its projection till 2055. Overall
, the population
of Japan had a stable increase from 1950 to 2005 and it is predicted to decrease for the next half-decade. Additionally
, its older citizens have almost similar trends but experience a slightly different change in their proportion as they have risen in percentage and will continue rising from 1950 to 2055.
Based on the chart provided, the population
of Japan rose steadily for just over a decade (1950-2005) as it started from 84.1 million
people and then
reached 127.8 million
citizens. Since then
it experienced a slight decrease for the next five years for about 2 million
of its people. Surprisingly, it is predicted to have a dramatic fall in 2055 which only has just slightly below 90 million
inhabitants.
However
, the table as another data for their citizens who are over 65 years old shows its overall
population
as well as
its proportion. It is clearly illustrated that these Japanese had only 4.1 million
elders (4.9%) in 1950 which increased significantly for the next 55 years as it rose for approximately 21 million
of them or about 15%. In addition
, it is projected to have another rise for the next three decades (14%) before it falls by almost a million
of the population
in 2055. On the other hand
, although
it will have a decrease in its inhabitants, the percentage will keep rising for just below a tenth.Submitted by misstiasclassroom on
