The graph below shows the quantities of goods transported in the UK between 1974 and 2002 by four different modes of transportation.
The line graph below demonstrates the amount of products transported by
road
,
water
,
rail
and
pipeline
in the UK during 28 years. It is noticeable that the majority of goods are exported by
road
but the
pipeline
was the
last
priority for transporting products. In detail, in 1974 the majority of products exported by
road
were about 70 million tonnes
while
transporting by
pipeline
was less than 10 million tonnes.
However
, exporting by
water
and
rail
was approximately the same figures amounting to 40 million tonnes. In the first 8 ,years the numbers of goods transported by
water
and
pipeline
increased significantly
while
rail
and
road
declined considerably. In the middle of the period, exporting by
water
and
pipeline
approximately remain unchanged
on the other hand
using the
road
and
rail
for transport almost increased but
rail
in 1994 decreased slightly. In the rest of the period, transporting by
road
,
water
and
rail
increased moderately
while
the sum exported by
pipeline
remained stable after a slight increase.
