The bar chart shows the percentage of people who ate five portion of fruits and vegetables per day in the UK from 2001 to 2008.
Presented for consideration is a table detailing data for the proportion of the two genders and
children
in the UK who consumed daily five different portions of vegetables and fruit over the period of 8
years
commencing with the year 2001.
This
data is recorded in per cent (%). Looking from an
overall
perspective, it is readily apparent that the ratio of females was continuously higher compared to the rate of males and
children
.
Conversely
, the proportion of
children
who ate five portions was always the lowest
figure
in all 8
years
.
Additionally
, all categories enjoyed an upward trend throughout the timeframe shown. Taking a closer look at the bar chart in more detail, it can be seen that the percentage of men eating fruit and vegetables remained stable at approximately 17% in the first 3
years
of the period. In 2004,
this
figure
stood at over 20%, before considerably jumping and occupying about 28% until the year 2007. In the final year of the timeframe, it was made up for under 28%. Moving onto the ratio of
children
who consumed five portions,
this
category
also
stayed constant at just over 10% from 2001 to 2003. After that, it dramatically went up and constituted from 12% to around 27% in 2007. But
this
figure
culminated with a decreased trend of around 25%. regarding the remaining statistics, it is clearly evident that the proportion of women who ate daily fruit and vegetables is continuously higher than other figures during the period shown. It was
initially
responsible for only 21% and
this
figure
dramatically rose to nearly 35% in 2006.
However
, in the
last
2
years
, it witnessed a decreased trend and accounted for around 30%.
