Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.
The bar chart illustrates how much money was spent on three types of junk food by three independent groups, depending on their
income
levels in the UK in 1990 and the line graph shows the trend in spending on these types of fast food in the 20-year period from 1970 to 1990.
Overall
, it is readily apparent that individuals with a high
income
spent the most on
hamburgers
,
while
those with a low
income
on
fish
and
chips
. Other than that,
hamburgers
had become the most popular item to eat among all people by the end of the period.
To begin
with,
hamburgers
were the most popular among high-
income
and average-
income
individuals,
although
the latter spent slightly less on it, with about 45 and 35 pence respectively.
Moreover
, despite spending far less money on fast foods,
fish
and
chips
clearly appealed more to the low-
income
group. Turning to the
pizza
, it was one of the least popular items in all figures.
In other words
, all people with all
income
levels spent less than 20 pence for
pizza
per week. Shifting to the second chart, it can be seen that in 1970,
pizza
and hamburger consumption stood at approximately 50 and 100 grammes consecutively,
while
that of
fish
and
chips
was 300 grammes which was about 3 times as high.
However
, over the following 10 years,
this
gap closed as
hamburgers
and
pizza
consumption climbed noticeably, overtaking that of
fish
and
chips
in 1982 and 1988 respectively.
At the end
of the period,
hamburgers
reached the highest consumption of over 500 grammes.
