Dear Sir/Maam, Greetings, I am writing
this
letter, to let you know that I am happy that I won the
first
prize in your competition. I am exquisite to inform you how my experience with the dinner meal you provided as my prize. To start with the very nice driver who picked us, anyways I brought my best friend with me as my guest to enjoy the meal for two. As he dropped us in a four-season restaurant, which is the best restaurant in town, we are welcomed and assisted well by the waiter. Let me explain how excited we're as soon as they put our appetizer on the table, it is

of chips, a slice of quesadillas and served with creamy mushroom soup. We are almost full as we finished it but as they served the main course which is a tenderloin steak, we dug in again. It is so tasty and the server told us that it was their most favourite meal in town. Don't forget the meltdown chocolate brownie for dessert that completed our meal for that night. That was the best dinner I ever had, which you let me experienced without paying anything. I really enjoyed the night and I am delighted to all staff in the restaurant who accommodated us well. Thank you for letting me and my friend have
this
evening and maybe soon, I'll join again in your competition and hopefully win again. Yours truly, Tokyo Madrid

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
