The two line graphs depict the incidence of three popular names for both genders, from the years 1925 to 2000. Generally, the trends for both boys and girls changed drastically over time, with the lowest incidence of Oliver occurring in 1975, considering that the name Daniel peaked in the same year.
Consequently
, Isabella has always been the least popular denomination for girls, and Emily has been the most. In 1925, Daniel was the most popular name, with just under four per thousand,
whereas
Oliver and Alexander were both tied for the lowest incidence at approximately one per thousand. The trend changed over the next few decades, with all three titles increasing to around 9-11 per thousand by 2000.
However
, a different pattern was seen with the female designations with a steady increase between 1925 and 1975, which
then
increased exponentially between 1975 and 2000. Emily ranked higher than Sophia and Isabella for the duration of the study, with the latter two having a similar gradient. Ultimately, Isabella was the rarest as it held the lowest rank of the three.
