WRITING TASK 1 You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. You and your family are planning to spend a weekend at a seaside hotel. Write a letter to the hotel, making the arrangements. In your letter tell them when you will be arriving and leaving explain what type of rooms you would like, and ask how much the weekend will cost ask about activities and places of interest near the hotel You should write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows: Dear Sir or Madam,

Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to make a booking for
this
coming weekend at your seaside hotel and if can provide more information about your place It would be helpful. We are planning to arrive on Saturday 9th of June in the morning around 11 am and leave on 10th of June Sunday in the evening around 7 pm. We need in total 3 rooms, each must contain a king-size bed, living room with a TV screen and Air conditioning system. We are in total 6 people.
Also
please suggest any must-go places near your hotel for adults as well as for children, it can be any concerts, bars, musical events or any parks or amusement centres for kids. Thank you in advance and looking forward to hearing from you back. Yours faithfully,

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
